The Board of Trustees for the Foothill-De Anza Community College District voted on April 3, 2023, to rescind the district's COVID-19 vaccination requirement, as of July 3, which means

• Proof of vaccination will NOT be required for summer or fall quarter. 
• Proof of vaccination and booster (if eligible) is still required before coming to campus during spring quarter

• Do I need to be vaccinated to take classes at De Anza?

  Vaccinations and boosters will not be required for ANY classes offered in summer or fall.

  • You must be vaccinated for COVID-19 to attend in-person classes or visit campus during spring quarter of 2023, but you don’t need to be vaccinated for online classes. (Check the class schedule for complete listings.)

• What if I want to visit the Library or use other services on campus?

  Vaccinations and boosters will not be required for summer or fall.

  • You must be vaccinated for COVID-19 to attend in-person classes or visit campus during spring quarter of 2023.

• What does “fully vaccinated” mean?

  Fully vaccinated means you must have received your vaccination at least two weeks before coming to campus during spring quarter of 2023.

  In addition, the Foothill-De Anza Community College District policy requires that everyone who is eligible must have an up-to-date booster before coming to campus during spring quarter of 2023.

• What happens if I don't meet the vaccination requirement?

  Vaccinations and boosters will not be required for summer or fall.

  • You will not be able to register for on-campus classes offered in spring quarter of 2023 until your vaccination record has been verified.

• What if I am not eligible for a booster? 

  Vaccinations and boosters will not be required for ANY classes offered in summer or fall.

  • You are required to have a booster before coming to campus during spring quarter of 2023 if you are eligible under FDA recommendations. If you are not yet eligible, you should get a booster as soon as you become eligible.

• Why do I see "COVID-19 vax proof required" when I try to register for a class? 

  You will see this message if you try to register for any on-campus class offered during spring quarter of 2023, before your vaccination record has been verified.

  • It can take up to three days to verify your record after you have uploaded it.
  • You should submit proof of your final vaccination at least three days before you plan to register for any on-campus class this spring
  • Vaccinations and boosters will not be required for ANY classes offered in summer or fall.

• What if I'm from a country where other vaccines were given?

  International students attending on an F-1 visa may submit documentation in English that they have received the full course of a vaccine approved by the World Health Organization (WHO).

• What if I have concerns about the COVID vaccine?

  We understand if you have questions or concerns. De Anza is following the advice of local, state and federal officals who all agree that the COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective. You can learn more at this California Department of Public Health website.

• Can I get a religious or medical exemption?

  Vaccinations and boosters will not be required for summer or fall, so exemptions are not necessary.

• Do I still need to wear a mask, even if I’m vaccinated?

  Face masks are strongly recommended on campus – that means covering your mouth AND nose at all times.

• Why can't I log in to the PyraMED health portal?

  You should be able to log in with your eight-digit Campuswide ID (also known as CWID) and your MyPortal password. Contact the Student Health Services office if you are unable to log in.

  • If you are a new student, please allow one day for your student account to be added to the PyraMED health system, before you try to log in. You should be able to log in once you have been assigned a registration date, which will be listed in MyPortal
  • If you are a high school student seeking dual enrollment at De Anza, you won't receive a registration date – or be able to log in to the PyraMED health system – until you have submitted your High School Permission Form. (See the instructions for dual enrollment.)

• What happens if I don’t comply with these requirements?

  Following these requirements is part of the Student Code of Conduct. Violations will be handled according to college policies and procedures.

• What other measures should I follow?  

  Here are some additional requirements for coming to campus:

  • Face masks are strongly recommended on campus. See the Face Mask Information webpage for more details.
  • Observe social distancing as instructed – including directions posted on signs
  • Wash hands regularly or use hand sanitizer, as provided

• What other precautions is the college taking?

  De Anza has developed signage, classroom assignments and other measures that take social distancing into account. Cleaning and sanitizing processes are also in place.

• Where can I get a COVID-19 vaccination?

  Visit the De Anza Health Services COVID-19 website for links to online search tools that you can use to find a vaccination site near you.

• Where can I get tested for COVID-19?
