Course Description

This course explores the reading and critical analysis of representative works by major writers such as Walt Whitman, Emily Dickinson, Mark Twain, Henry James, William Dean Howells, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, Charles Chesnutt, Mary Wilkins Freeman, Kate Chopin, Stephen Crane, Booker T. Washington, W.E.B. DuBois, Black Elk, and Robert Frost. Because this is an honors program course, students will be expected to complete extra assignments to gain deeper insight in Literature.

    De Anza will host its annual Enrollment Day event for graduating high school students and their families on Saturday, April 27, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Main Quad and other locations.

    Sixteen faculty members were granted tenure by the Foothill-De Anza district Board of Trustees on Monday, during a special celebration attended by Chancellor Lee Lambert and leaders from the college and district. Colleagues, deans and family members were also there to congratulate them.

    Meet the 2024 Tenure Recipients
    Four members of the De Anza College community will be honored in March with Excellence Awards from the national League for Innovation in the Community College. They were selected for their outstanding service to the college and its students.

    De Anza has received its first-ever grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, providing $150,000 for an ambitious, three-year effort to create and expand oral history programs focused on historically marginalized communities.
